Botox this morning~~day 1

Postby rugbybaby » 20 Mar 2012, 18:24

I had my botox at 11:00 this morning. All morning I was worried about the procedure, I had to do an enema an hour before we left. That was not to fun. I had a hard time with the insertion, 3 tries, an then face down, ass up. Surprisingly the BM was painless, a little after-burn, but manageable. Then it was off to the hospital. After getting registered and derobed. The nurse set up an IV with fluids. At that point I had tight pains across my chest, felt light headed and very flushed. My blood pressure went way up too. After the nurse, then doctor came in and determined it wasn't heart related. I got a valium and calmed way down. A panic attack. I have had a bunch of misc surgeries and hospitalizations, and never had one shred of panic. Goes to show how much a fissure can effect your out look on pain. After the anesthesiologist came in and discussed that they were going to do full blown, general. The doctor wanted to "look around". Anyway to the OR. After lying down and getting the "good stuff", i woke up in recovery. I don't remember much until I saw my husband. My CRS spoke to him about what she saw. I had "a pretty good fissure" and something, a little bump (my husband could not remember what she called it) which she removed. I had ZERO pain. After waking up for awhile, I was ready to go home. They gave me a norco (hydrocodone) for the ride home. Still, no pain, but a little pressure and a swollen feeling. I had a quesadilla & a G2 on the way home. At home I played with my boys for awhile and then went to take a bath (I am supposed to take 3-4 per day and alternate with ice). After the bath I discovered a HUGE hemmie, out of the blue. I hope it is due to irritation from the procedure and the hot bath. Hopefully the ice I'm sitting on will help. But still OK with pain, maybe a 3 or 4. I am hoping my boys go to bed early, so I can crash with some pain meds. Hopefully a good update tomorrow.

Hi rugbybaby,
Maybe it was a sentinel/tag that you had removed?
Hope you are feeling better today, that the hemmie has calmed down.
wishing you happy healing!

Day 2 update:
HORRIBLE night. HORRIBLE. That damn hemmie is HORRIBLE. I was up all night, the pain meds did nothing, I cannot take more b/c I have a bad stomach. I have an appointment tomorrow at 8am to follow up and see if this hemmie is thrombosized, it is that damn thing is the size of a large cherry and reddish purple.
That panic attack was my instinct's way of saying don't do it. I never listen. I just want to cry.

Hi Rugby baby,
So very sorry it is thrombosed!!!
grateful ed had a similar experience.
I bet, after the hemmie subsides, the botox will be in full swing and things will look up then!
Did you tell your doc that it is thrombosed? Tomorrow seems a long time to wait to see someone about that!
I guess that is reassuring that they don't think it needs immediate attention.
sending you healing thoughts!!!

I did tell her. She said to do the same treatment, sitz baths, ice, lortab, soft bm. I am better for the moment, as long as I lie still.
Thanks for the good wishes!

I had a thrombosed external hemorrhoid so I can definitely feel your pain! Within the first couple of days, they can generally lance the hemorrhoid and remove the clot, which will significantly reduce the pain. I waited too long to go to the doctor, so I just had to wait it out. The pain subsided after several days, but it took about 4 to 6 weeks for the hemorrhoid to completely go away, which is pretty normal. Hopefully, they can just quickly remove the clot since you caught it so quickly. Too bad they couldn't see you today. You could always go to an Urgent Care facility if the pain in unbearable. Lancing an external thrombosed hemorrhoid is a fairly common and simple procedure. Let us know how things turn out.

Rugbybaby
What rotten luck. Sending my best wishes for an early resolution of this. Soon you will be pain free, just hold onto that thought. Oh and don't move if that's what it takes.

Well good thing I had an appointment scheduled for this morning. I woke up with the hemmie about the size of a golf ball and had my first BM. The BM was not too bad,but oh, dear god, after I stood up the pain hit me. I went to go immediately into the shower, but fainted before I stuck my leg in. Ouch. I had to call my husband at work and my mother in law to come help me get to the doctor and get the kids to the sitter. I was in soooooo much pain, much more than "just the fissure".
After much maneuvering and bumping we made it to the doctor. Her first response was "holy shit, that is definitely a blood clot, and a big one at that." She explained my options: #1: let it be absorbed back into the body in 2-3 weeks. #2: have it removed in the office with a local #3: have it removed tomorrow morning with anesthesia. She said most people do OK in office. So we opted for that route.
After waiting 30 minutes, alone, in pain and naked from the waist down. We were ready to begin. I got 3 lidocaine shots, HOLY SHIT that hurt like hell. I almost broke my husband's hand. Then the snipping began. A lot of pulling and pinching. Then PAIN! Another shot was needed. There was a ton of blood, my husband was getting queasy, even though he couldn't see anything. After it was done and cleaned up, I stood up to get dressed, and blood poured down my legs. Again, I was looking at the ceiling, after my hubby caught me. I am usually a tough cookie. Other than being light headed and nauseated. We made it home OK, just as the lidocaine was wearing off. The pain was horrible, I took double Lor-Tab and a bath. My husband rubbed my temples and I fell asleep from 10 until 3pm. I only woke a few times with twinges of pain. I am about a 2/10 right now (no meds since this morning). Hopefully this is the turning point. More updates tomorrow.

Oh my gosh, that is horrifying!
I am so glad you are feeling better now.
What did your doc say to do to help the cut she made heal?
And I thought I was having a bad day!
Sending you more healing thoughts!!
