Surgery in a week

Postby Ginniemac » 15 Apr 2012, 10:59

Hi
I haven't been on here in a while as I've been in between appointments etc. I went back to see my CRS after yet another 6 week course of diltiazem and we both agreed that things were not improving. She's scheduled me in for surgery next week but is reluctant to do any muscle cutting as I suffer terrible with bloating/gas and she said thee is a chance the lis could make things a lot worse in that sense.
I have got a lot of haemorrhoids and a tag which she is going to remove as they are causing me a lot of pain and can swell so much that they actually block the opening. Owwww I know !!! My question is if my fissure is not healed and I'm not having LIS will the fissure not cause the tag to grow again??? Also if anyone has had surgery is there much bleeding afterwards as I'm at a wedding 4 days later!!!
Thanks xxx

Hi Ginnie,
Well, I've not had surgery. But if you read any of the posts here from those who have, 4 days is pretty optimistic to be at a wedding after having hemorrhoids removed and a tag. The tag is usually not a big deal although a wedding requires a lot of sitting still.
How is she going to remove the hemmies? Banding or just hemorrhoidoctomy? If the latter, i doubt you would be able to sit through a wedding, sorry to say. IMO.
I've read that the skin tag would return. In fact mine did. I had a sentinel/skin tag from a fissure removed 1.5 years ago. Now it is back right next to where the last one was. I don't know for sure if it is the same fissure or not. But obviously that area wasn't fully healed yet.
In retrospect, I wish I hadn't had it removed.
But if your fissure heals quickly, it shouldn't come back.
To have a skin tag removed in the states and canada is a simple in office visit with a local anesthetic. Perhaps you could just see to the hemmies for now and have the tag dealt with at a later date?
Sorry the diltiazem isn't helping. Have you tried any of the oral meds for healing hemorrhoids?
There's a post by a lady who found them helpful;

Thanks for the reply Tanya. It's great to speak to people who understand!! I'm going to go for the surgery and c how I feel for the wedding. It's my cousin you see who's like a sister to me so even if I get there for the day time I'd be made up!!!! The colorectal surgeon fitted me in for that date. She's marvellous. I would have had to wait until the end of june otherwise. She said they'll also be taking biopsies. I presume this is normal. I think half of my worry is that it's something else as the lump seems to be getting bigger and bigger!! I get a burning pain up there too and pain that makes me double over!!! So just want it all checked out. X

Best of luck with your surgery ginnie!
i'm so glad you have a doctor you are confident in.
biopsies are a normal routine thing. No worries.
the burning pain may be spasms. You can use the search here to see if others' descriptions match yours.
Please let us know how the sugery goes.
