Greetings from Taiwan.... home of your newest member. Moved here 3 years ago from Chicago, and can't say I miss the corporate grind in the least.
Hooked into your little group by web-searching "Can Vaseline be used regularly with no ill effects?" Guess you can see my concern. Image
I've been "suffering" since December of last year. I have gotten anal fissures in the past and had hemorrhoids as well.... but they usually come and go and rarely cause lasting trouble. A few times I've burst a hemorrhoid... I survived. The body has a wonderful capacity for self-healing, and I'll stand by that one.
This latest bout though... wow. it's been 5 months now with no clear end in sight. About 3 months ago I randomly decided to have my wife apply vaseline to my hiney, and well... it helped. (Now I have a shiney hiney, eh?) At least I stopped itching.
I'm gonna stick around and read through old posts a bit. Might make a comment or two here and there... so if you see my name pop up, at least you'll have this as a semi-reminder of who I am.
Oh, hope you all like the humor of my chosen name... I tend to have a strange sense of irony and humor... I'm just saying...

BTW: Green is the color of the independence movement in Taiwan. You'll see it often in what I write, as I strongly support a democratic Taiwan as opposed to all this "Chinese Taipei" crap that China is pushing in an attempt to bully us into being their next victim.
This will be the first and last time I will talk politics... it's just a matter of explanation, nothing less, nothing more.

Hi, and welcome, though I'm sorry a stubborn fissure has brought you here. This is a site with a lot of great people and information about fissures including diet, supplements, medications, surgical options, etc. A lot of members use Vaseline too, especially prior to a BM to provide some protection of the wound.

As jr2 said before me welcome... I myself am relatively new to this form, and can tell you in the short time I've been here I've received a great deal of helpful advice.
Vaseline was definitely a good help but on it's own it didn't provide me enough relief. I still use it on a regular basis... However, in combination with a increasingly more personalized diet and Miralax I'm almost feeling back to normal if not better then before.
