Hello Everyone, I'll start by saying that my thoughts are with everyone of you who is suffering from any uncomfortable condition.
In my case, I believe that I have an Anal Fissure. My specialist says so anyways. For the last year, it started as a severe itch, that I may have scratched. Then, on the outside/base of my anus there is a small hard bump (under the skin). Besides being there, there wasn't too much discomfort. As the months went on it started to become painful, I couldn't sit, coughing, sneezing, anything started to hurt. So I went to my specialist. He quickly dismissed it as a hemmoroid so we did the Sigmoidoscopy, which is a probe to a depth of 25cm, where he saw and banded a hemmoired (that wasn't the main problem in the first place). The pain that night was severe, I was throwing up, shaking, and moaning all night to the point where I had to go get pain killers.
When that pain subsided and the Hemmeroid healed over a few weeks, the fissure has remained and the symptoms were worse than ever. My specialist prescribed a cream mixture of nifedepine/lanolin/petrolium which I had been using for 3 months straight, 3 times a day. Things were getting great, I had improved my diet immensely, take the necessary vitamins but still, it remains... just when it feels like its 80-90% healed, the next day it seems to be bothersome once again.. I know surgery is an option, but due to my condition, I'm reluctant to let anyone go up there and risk tearing it even further.
Is there anything I can do to help speed this process? any natural remedies? anything at all? I appreciate and am thankful for anyone who reads and answers.
Best of luck to everyone involved on this forum and around the world who has this problem or one like it!

Hi Jazzy,
Welcome and sorry for your pain. Hopefully this forum will provide you with some helpful tips and information to benefit your path towards healing. Image
People around this forum have spoke highly about coconut oil and aloe vera, amongst other natural remedies that have offered them relief. If you type those words into the search engine at the top right, you'll be able to read what they've had to say about these and just browsing around the general discussion and diet tips pages you may find some other helpful resources.
Have you been back to your doctor since starting the nifedepine for any kind of follow-up this past 3 months? Sometimes, if one ointment is not working, they may offer you another to try. These fissures are so unpredictable when it comes to healing....so many of us have thought we were clear on the path to healing, only to have an unsuspected flair-up...it is a miserable condition to live with. You mentioned your condition. Are you referring to the fissure, or is there another underlying condition you have that makes you worry even more about surgical intervention? If your concern about lis is that your fissure may be compromised even more during the surgery, my belief is that the surgeon will be well aware of that and it should be a non-issue as the surgery will well compensate for the initial tear or any further tearing during surgery.
IMO surgery should be a last resort, of course, as there is always a pretty good chance that if you can hold out long enough you may be able to heal using more conservative methods, and there are many options out there. It's just a matter of how long you can endure the sometimes dibilitating pain, while trying to find, weed through and exhaust all other options.
Best wishes to you and I hope you find something to assist you and once again offer you hope that you have control of this on your own Image
