AF friendly recipies

Postby whatwhat » 25 Jun 2012, 16:03

Eating healthy sounds easy doesn't it and I am sure that it is really... but I am finding that planning 3 square meals a day which consist of all the good stuff for a healing AF is not as easy as I first thought!
I thought it might be nice to start up a thread where we can all share our recipes or meal ideas which we have found to be AF friendly. I would really like to try some new stuff in this process of changing my eating habits for the better and have seen some of you talk about various different things to try - maybe it would be good to have it all in one place here.
For dinner it has been plain chicken/fish and broccoli/carrots all the way which is becoming horribly tedious....I am lacking creativity in the kitchen here just not knowing how to make fissure friendly food interesting!..... Image
Now I would write in to Delia or Jamie to ask them for some ideas but I doubt they want to hear about the ins and outs (literally) of my anal issue.....so I am relying on you chaps to come up with some ideas so if you have recipes or snack advice please post away...and I will of course do the same :)
Big hugs to everyone

THIS ONE IS COURTESY OF BGAN :) THANKS BGAN
My sister made me this dish as I am about 1 week post-op and eating a very high fiber diet. This is delicious and contains a lot of high fiber foods. I served it over a bowl of Quinoa. Quinoa is extremely high in fiber. It does not have much taste so it's excellent for mixing. One serving of Quinoa has 11 grams of fiber, that's huge!! It's great alone as a snack or over Quinoa as a filling meal:
Three Bean Salad
1 15-oz can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
1 15-oz can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 15-oz can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
2 celery stalks, chopped fine
1/2 red onion, chopped fine
1 cup fresh, finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 Tbsp fresh finely chopped rosemary
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a large bowl, mix the beans, celery, onion, parsley and rosemary.
2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the vinegar, sugar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add the dressing to the beans. Toss to coat.
3. Chill beans in the refrigerator for several hours, to allow the beans to soak up the flavor of the dressing.

Not really a meal but worth mentioning:
I have found a low fat prune yoghurt from M&S which is absolutely yummy!
....for those of you in the UK lucky enough to be blessed with M&S that is!
Worth chucking over a big bowel of fruit.

Image Ok, that was funny Image I guess that truly shows where our minds are at Image
I wish I had a recipe to add, but I basically just have cereals, oatmeal, rice and beans, veggies, salads and fruit. No recipes that I follow...but if I find something yummy, I'll definitely post it. :D
