Surgery

Postby PJ » 03 Sep 2012, 20:45

I had a section of my colon removed over 20 years ago, then 18 months ago, due to a lot of pain, had a colonoscopy and endo. Once again a number of tumors were found besides another fissure. Over the last 3 months, I have developed a lot of pain, diarrhea, stomach aches, GERT, and esophagus issues. As I am a breast cancer survivor, and my gastro Dr/Surgeon is concerned with possible cancer, I am not getting more and more frighted by the day. Surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow. Has any one had their fissures developed into cancer

PJ,
I'm really sorry to read your post in light of all you've been through and now all this horrible related anal stuff on top. I can understand you must be terrified after reading your medical history but hang in there!......Anal cancer is extremely rare where fissures are incredibly common. Is any of this stuff related to treatment of the cancer? (side effects I mean)....What surgery do they have planned for you exactly?
I can understand the concerns completely but really, this may not at all be worst-case scenario. I'm just sorry you have had to suffer so much and great news that you have got through breast cancer! Brilliant.
I really haven't come across anything on this site which has led to anything really nasty.
Do you suffer from IBS or Chrones? Just wondering if some of your symptoms are possibly related to a condition like this? All the very best with your surgery and truly hoping that you get some answers soon and nothing is as bad as you are fearing.
