Lifting, bumpy rides bad for fissures?

Postby roadscholar » 04 Oct 2012, 09:46

I am recovering from my worst bout, to date, with a fissure. I passed lots of blood for about two weeks. Today marks my 3rd day without bleeding. I know that hard stools are definitely a trigger for fissures. That is what activated this one. What about lifting? I have a musical gig coming up in two weeks. If I have no bleeding up until that time, do you think that hauling musical equipment (all in the 40-50 pound range) might make it start bleeding again? How about getting on the riding mower? All of my previous bouts with fissures lasted only a few days, so I am very concerned about doing anything that could take me right back to square one. I am 58 years old, which may have a bearing on how quickly I heal.

Hi roadscholar,
I would be very careful when lifting. You should maybe ask for some help lifting your equipment, it's not good to put pressure down there I believe.
Remember to keep bms soft, it seems like you r on the right track with no bleeding for the last three days
