No bm in 3 days help!!

Postby GGky1959 » 01 Mar 2013, 15:09

I'm on so much ibuprofen, its hardened my stool, and the last thing I want to do is take a hard laxative and be in pain for the next 12 hours like I did last weekend. By the time it was over, I was ready to slit my wrist, it was a nightmare. I have prune juice, Miralax, docolac, metimucil and Jesus (smile). Sadly, its been the best three days of the last 2 weeks.... Image Can some one tell me what's the best, less evasive way to have a easy stool within the next 12 hours? Yes, I am drinking plenty of water, doing the fiber thing, but when I'm in pain.....the only thing that helps is the Ibuprofen...sorry!!

Hi, try some milk of magnesia, if you're truly constipated call your doctor. I wound up in the emergency room once because I let it go too long. When I finally went it felt like delivering a baby. It took them 6 hours to get me going. What kind of fiber are you taking? If it's metamucil you need lots of liquid because it can also bind you up if you don't drink enough. Good luck Suzy

It was my doctor that prescribe the Docolac, so I'll have to pass on calling him. I know if I tried the other things, I can get it going...I just want a smooth way to go about this....so you say Milk of Mag. will do it?

Docolac is just a stool softener and not a very good one in my opinion. I never had any luck with it. Peri-colace is the laxative but if you're looking for a non cramping laxative milk of magnesia is pretty good. If that doesn't get you started you can try Magnesium citrate. It tastes awful though. Ok, this is gross... but I read on another site somewhere that the easiest way to have a BM if you've not been for so long is in the bath as it relaxes things.
Maybe those sitz baths are what they mean as you can just pour it down the pan afterwards. Would be better than trying to fish a big brown trout out the pool!! Image
I would definitely try and apply a bit of Nitro 30 mins before as well, if that's at all possible timing wise.

ENEMA - easy and fast, it will get things going. Buy a "fleet" enema at the drug store and follow the simple directions. Hold it as long as you can. Thats what they do at the hospital if you're constipated.

Suzy for the first time in such a longggggg longggg time, I had a bm that actually was great :D and I owe it all to the milk of mag......I put the Nitro on afterwards, took my pills and went to sleep without any pain. Incredible the amount of comfort I got from the mag, since not being able to crap for 3 days.....girlfriend, you rock!! Image Oh and I want to add, I bought the cherry flavored kind and it was like sipping a small milkshake.

Again, Suzy I can't thank you enough....I had every laxative known to mankind in the bathroom cabinet but MM. I remember this stuff as a child, so I kinda over look it when shopping for laxatives, but now I know. My bm came around midnight, its smooth, un invasive and kinda painless and afterwards, I gave myself a brief heated sponge bath on my bottom, dried myself, put on the Nitro, took my headache pills and went to sleep peacefully in a long time. It was great...again thanks Image
