Hi
Saw family dr this morning. They think it is croup or possibly broncholitis. Lungs are clear. They did a breathing treatent. They are doing a chest x-ray since I have surgery in a couple days. They did put me on a low dose steriod and cough medicine. Hopefully, once that kicks in tomorrow, I should be over the worst of it. The good thing is that I can now breathe thru the nose. If it is croup, the steriods will kick in and I should feel better. It is not the first time, I had croup. It is more likely my 3rd time.
I am a teacher so the next option for surgery is this summer, which means that I will be having surgery a couple weeks before a cruise that I booked almost 2 yrs ago.

Hi Jennifer,
Is your surgery still a go? If so, I just wanted to wish you the best of everything with your surgery tomorrow, and your recovery.

Hi
Surgery is a go. I still have a little cough but no fever. Family dr called and said that my chest x-rays were clear. I talked to the surgeon office this morning and they said that as long as I don't have a fever, I am good to go. They want me to bring my inhaler and cough medicine in case I go into a coughing fit before surgery.
I suspected that it was croup because less than 48 hrs after taking predisone, I have my voice back and I am not coughing like a seal.
I am way more nervous with this surgery. Having gone through the first surgery, I know that the pain is going to be bad. I cried with my first BM. The thought of going through this again is scary. I hope that this is the last time. I am also anxious about going into surgery aware of everything. With the last surgery, I was about ready to jump off the table when they were started to prep me. I ended up telling the anesthesilogist that I am about ready to freak out. She put something in my IV and that was the last that I remember. I hate that feeling. I am hoping they can knock me out or at least give me something before we hit the surgery room.

Be really open with them when you arrive about how anxious you are feeling. They can usually get some Valium (or something like it) started to help you feel a little more at ease.
As you feel up to it, please keep us posted on how things go.
Sending you hopeful, peaceful, healing thoughts.
