Hi Andy,
I too had yellow staining which was light in colour and sometimes a bit gooey. At first it was brown (and occasionally pink) then once it started to heal it turned light yellow which was the wound weeping. I was at this stage for a little while and it eventually went away by itself.
Is this yellow coming from your behind or is it on the medicated gauze? If it is on the gauze and does not have a strong foul smell then that sounds normal.
If you are still concerned give the CRS practice nurse a call and she will cheerfully give you advice (you probably met her on surgery day), if she is concerned she would get Mr Windsor to call you.
Anyway I hope all else is well and that this is just one of them fearful blips we all get

I havent been wearing guaze but when ever i dab the area there was yellow. Not loads but enough to leave a mark. I havent been dabbing any more though as the pain is too bad.
I have gone from being pretty much pain free last thursday to having quite bad incision pain, I would say 6/7 out of ten. I also just had some bleeding after a BM for the first time in about a week. Been trying to get through to nurse practice nurse all day but couldnt reach her so i am going to try again tomorrow.
It is the hole that is really worrying me. I am scared that it is a fistula. Dave when you inspected your incision did you see anything like this? I see the cut and then what looks like a hole on the inner bit.

Hi Andy,
My incision just looked like a small scalpel cut. If you have a spot close by and puss is coming from the spot then it sounds like you may have picked up an infection. The increased pain would also back this up.
I read your other thread which said your GP has given you some antibiotics to clear up this infection however I would still call the CRS nurse. If you struggle to contact her then I would call the hospital and request that Mr Windsor calls you back.

The nurse rang me back this morning. She said infections can happen and my body would have got rid of it fine by itself, but the anti biotics will help.
I mentioned the hole and she didnt sound concerned, she said it will heal, but im not sure if i described it right. It literally looks like a hole by the scalpel cut.
Tempted to ask to speak to mr windsor direct, but i guess theres not much they can do over the phone.
Anyway I have booked my follow up for 2 weeks time and then he ll be able to see it first hand. Pain is feeling a bit better today, but there was quite a bit of blood this morning. I am going to avoid looking at it for a week or so as I feel it just stresses me out when i see it.

Hi Andy,
The nurse at the practice is a specialist nurse and sees fistulas all the time. If she thought you were at any risk they would have you back to London in a flash. Also you have been examined by a GP who also sees no reason for you to return to hospital so the odds seem in your favour at the moment.
However for peace of mind I would suggest you call the surgery and request a call back from Mr Windsor just to be on the safe side. Hopefully this turns out to be nothing as you were doing so well with your progress
Keep us all updated - I am looking forward to the 'I'm healed' update.
(Oh and apologies for the late responses but I am in Asia at the moment on different time zones)

Well I spoke to my doctor yesterday. He said its unfortunate this has happened but he thinks a stitch has come undone and is possibly a bit infected.
He asked what anti biotics i had been put on, and he said they are the wrong ones (stupid gp!!!!!!!).
He told me what i need to be on instead, and said if it doesnt ease by monday then I may have to go to london. He said the risk is abcess, but he said I should be able to see it myself, and i have looked and i dont see one.
Anyway I went to my gp and got the correct anti biotic and started that last night. So hopefully i ll start to see improvement in the next few days when it kicks in. My doctor also looked and said he sees no abcess. I dont really want to go to london whilst im still in pain so i think i will give it till wednesday before I make a decision.
I ll keep updating, hopefully it will ease soon as I am so sore!
