I would have thought a couple of days Hoser, but I guess it really depends on the size and state of the abscess. All sounds OK but I'd go back if the draining hasn't cleared up after another couple of days just to check all is OK.

Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

Ya still have some pus and a bit of blood. Sadly my bm today had some blood. I'm still on softeners but it was a bit bulky. No tearing or ripping but I am afraid I may have re-aggravated my fissure, or else I am getting a fistula.
Damn it!! I thought I saw a light at the end there....

HoserBum sorry that you are still getting some problems. I hope that by now you are doing better but if you are not, you need to get your doctor to take a look to see what else is going on.
