Just got diagnosed with my first (and hopefully last!) fissure back in March at the age of 42. At my last appointment with my CRS he said it seemed to be healing nicely (although it certainly doesn't feel like it). I must admit, though, I am immensely better than I was two months ago! I'm terrified of the idea of surgery, but natural healing seems to be working so far. We'll see how it goes...

hmmmm gud to hear that u r healing naturally. there's no match to it. but u need to stick to eating habit routine during n after ur fissure has healed to avoid recurrence.

45, healing very well from my second fissure. Healed from the first a little less than a year ago I guess.

Glad to see others healing naturally, too. I'm going that route and am doing okay, although I always seem to flare-up before and sometimes during my period (like right now). : ( The hormones, more sensitivity to pain, and major stress I always get just really puts a damper on things. I'd probably be completely healed by now if it wasn't for that.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.

snowdog: it's gud to hear that u r healing naturally. what caused 2nd fissure?
Luka: no doubt it's see saw sometimes ur up n sometimes ur down but u need to stay positive.
RACHAEL1983: yea straining is the major cause of fissure but we cant turn back the time. we only have to deal with present n future.

First fissure that I was aware of was in my 50's. had double advancement flap 5 weeks ago, just turned 62. This can happen at any age and happen in small children quite often. If I could give any advice looking back on everything...... Don't delay seeing a doctor and if surgery is recommended just do it. The moment you have the surgery you'll find yourself on the road to recovery. It may be painful and it may take some time but having the surgery gives you the best chance to alleviate the problem. I wish I would have taken my own advice 5 years ago. Suzy

28 yo female, I think I may have had very minor AF before in my 20's but now one chronic AF, booked for LIS in two weeks and will let you know how it goes. Never did I know AF's existed or the pain. Since getting my chronic AF I have learnt I was pooping all wrong! Straining, and just wanting to get the hell out of the stinky loo was my cause I believe. Live and learn huh!
Please help!!
