Update: day 4 - the dreaded BM. So last night after 4 days of relatively no pain, eating relatively well, I finally felt the need to go to the loo.
Around 6pm I had an uncomfortable 20 minutes for the first part of a tiny BM, then an excruciating 2 minutes for the rest of it. Despite using my muscles carefully at the beginning, gravity took hold of the 4 days of food and Stool softeners and summoned everything at once from me.
On the scale of pain it was 10/10. I was then in pain until I went to bed 6 hours later. I had a sitz bath, which although didn't feel like it helped, it probably did. Couldn't stand, couldn't sit. I'm probably going to buy a rubber ring to sit in. (6 year old me would probably be excited by that and actually 27 year old me is a little).
So 4 days off does not mean its healed and I don't think the Botox had begun yet.
Taking everyday as it comes now. Trying to work on my diet but not sure whether to follow suit on here and do the IBS diet or to go back to my unhealthy low fibre diet that seemed to let me have 3 consecutive BM with relatively no pain.
TBC...
Ps Thanks to Mabs for your continued support and anyone else who has given words of support. It means a lot to know we're not alone. :)

Hi welsh,
So glad you got over that first BM I'd would have been terrified after 4 days. Your in very early stages of Botox it can take up to two wks to kick in. When I had Botox I still had pain & bleeding for at least a wk so don't worry about the bleeding. (I'm 1 wk post LIS, fissurectomy & tag removal ) I'd stay away from rubber rings as they cause the cheeks of you bum to separate & could aggravate your fissures.
Like you I find the diet hard to follow. I'm thinking of trying the fodmap diet Rachael seems to be doing great on it.
Take care 😊

Update: day 5.
Had my 2nd BM since my double fissurectomy & Botox.
That was a type 4 on Bristol scale like Icecream/tooth paste. I've not had an "easy" BM like that for months - but due to the pain from last nights BM, It was incredibly sore so I'm in quite a bit of pain now.
Sat in a Sitz which is helping finally. (Starting to believe the hype now).
If I'd had this type of BM last night, I'd have been a happy girl. I guess the Movicol (Miralax for US) is finally working.
Have a bag of Thai Chilli Sensations sat in the cupboard taunting me.
"One day my friend, You will be mine." Until then I guess it's brown rice.

If I can't laugh at things like this Mabs, then it's likely I'll cry. Just had my 3rd Sitz of the day. (Feel like an old lady).
I really hope this pain will go soon as I'd like to get back to some normality. "Come on Botox - lets be 'avin you!"
So Edel is this your round of 2nd treatment? Did you previously have Botox unsuccessfully?

Hi there I had a fissurectomy & Botox 4 weeks ago (previously had LIS which didn't work for me) things are improving for me but it still hurts after bm, after weeks of experimenting I've finally got 1 soft easy bm every morning by taking lactulose & 300mg magnesium before bed. Before my surgery I didn't take anything as I dreaded every bm so much I didn't want to encourage it!! But now I'm pleased that its regular & easy. I am however bitterly disappointed that 4 weeks down the line it still hurts after I've been, it is a different kind of pain though & is relieved by laying still on my side (thanks Mabs!!) moving around even standing seems to aggregate it, it lasts for about 4 hours after bm. I was due back at work next week but just don't feel up to it yet so I'm
Going to see my gp today to discuss staying off work a bit longer, really want the pain to have gone before I go back to work. I wish you all the very best with your healing I really u understand exactly where you are right now.

Hi I had one round of Botox July 2012 worked great kicked in after about 10days. It last for 8 glorious mths once or twice I had a scare where I had blood with hard BM but with care it heal up fast. Then in march of this yr had very hard BM following a bad diet & more blood so had 2nd round of Botox but unfortunately didn't work this time gave it the usual 12wks no joy. So here I am 8 days post LIS, fisserectomy & tag removal doing great 😊.
My advice is watch that diet it's so easy to fall off the wagon when you are feeling good. Stay away from those "CHILI SENSATIONS" omg the pain lol

Hi Jilly, I'm glad to hear things are improving for you and look forward to hearing more updates as we seem to be in the same boat. I had my fissurectomy last Friday and I've been off work all week. I wasn't in any pain until my first BM on Tues and then another Wednesday (yesterday). I'm not in any pain now which is good. Just trying to keep the "Icecream" BM as they will be a god send on a normal day. Still no feeling of Botox yet - but it's only been 6 days.
Not looking forward to going back to work if I need the loo. Let me tell you no one likes an "emotional" lady.
Edel - that's great (albeit old) news that your Botox worked. That bodes well for me and Jilly. I'm not the strongest with will power when it comes to food. But everything in moderation eh?
Chilli sensations are the most amazing crisps in the world. I could demolish a whole bag in one sitting - but I'm limiting it to 3 a day. (Crisps not bags).
Hopefully your LIS will help. Just stick to it.
Is anyone else struggling to get any exercise? I used to run quite a bit but the last 3 months have rendered me useless. Since my fissure went "external" it's almost impossible for me to do anything if I've had a BM the previous day.

Hi Welsh,
I too had my Botox done last Friday. I have only just come across this thread.... It's good to know there is another Botox buddy out there! Lol
As for chili sensations.... Step away from the cupboard...lol
I have booked 3weeks off work... My husband has 2 weeks off to look after me and our youngest... And I'm not moving off the sofa until at least the weekend! I just want to give myself the very best chance to heal for good.

Update: day 6. Just had my 3rd (and most favourite BM of the 3) just kinda fell out. No real pain (maybe a 1/10 in comparison). Just a bit numb down there now.
Hooray for stool softeners. Why didn't I find these before? Movicol is my new best friend. I found Senna to give me a bad stomach and Fibrogel to make my stools more packed and thicker.
Dum da da duuum MOOOVICOOOOL to the rescue!! (Yes I'm 27 and an adult - but I've got cabin fever!!)
And I'm sick of bath tub baths  - never been one for baths, so hard and uncomfortable, so I found that I can sit sideways in my bidet relatively comfortably. (And by relatively, I mean I look like a child who's fallen in the toilet)
Yes! In your face bath tub!!
Anyhow I'm going to see a GP tomorrow to maybe get another week off work. If next week is anything like this week, I'll be all over the place. Lets hope the Botox is finally kicking in.
Owmybum - 3 weeks?! Wow that's a lovely amount of time. Use it wisely. Once it's gone, it's gone. (As she says watching back to back episodes of Dexter)
Have you felt your Botox kick in yet? Was it just Botox you had or surgery too?
