buttastic, is been a long journey from the time I had the symptoms to then been diagnosed with a fissure to wait and see if I could heal naturally and then been finally diagnosed with a healing fissure last June 10 the journey took about two years.
But I am still afraid of re tears and everything that comes with a freshly open fissure.
I make sure that my butt is top priority and I treat it like is the most delicate thing in my body.:D, once you have a painful fissure you can never forget, that is for sure.

I'm about 11 days away from the 8-week mark from when I first tore (I think it'll be day 35 on the Rectiv). Makes me nervous. I feel better (I think I could safely say much better), but not perfect.
God, I really don't want to have surgery again...

We hear you crimeofpassion:
I know its hard not to be a bit concerned, but its good to know that your also feeling great. We are so hoping that your progress will continue on with no setbacks, and that you can avoid surgery.
Please please please do not let anything stop you from keeping those stools soft. A lot of us especially during the delicate healing phase cut back a bit on eating  just to decrease the amount of bming we do.
Keep your chin up crimeofpassion, stay strong....

I'm having occasional, fairly sharp jabs of pain today. Very disappointing.

Crime,
Don't be too dispondent by these symptoms - This is still going to be relatively normal at the two month stage (Well - it was for me on & off too) - The fact they are more occasional is a good thing and not constant and continuous - you are having good days too - Question is, are there now more good days than bad?. If yes, you are doing OK.- (Honestly).
Sadly, a fissure takes a long time to heal properly - the Diltiziam relaxes the sphincter muscle immensely but you will still be having some spasming, which will create those jabbing pains - Are they worse after a BM still?? Is there a pattern to them? Don't measure your progress by the day, it simply doesn't work, and that is extremely frustrating I know!! You have to look at your recovery in terms of weeks, even better by the month. It is such an up and down process for sure. Just let it all out - all your frustration and stress, and start to build up your positivity, strength and determination again to continue your battle! If you keep your BMs soft/ prevent yourself from any unnecessary straining & constipation, you really are doing all the best stuff you can do for long-term recovery. Hang in there!!!
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

Yes crimeofpassion, we all hear you and we are here for you. Believe me, in the beginning of my fissure the pain was incredible. I vented my frustration to every one on this site, and I deeply thank every one for listening and there advise, incredible advise.
one night, all night long the pain was so bad that I also wanted to jump off a bridge, but in to much pain to get there..lol.
My fissure was diagnosed may 16th, by colonoscopy, I didn't know I had one at the time.
The colonoscopy went fine, even taking the moviprep solution to poop went OK. The gastro Doctor, discovered Diverticulitis, hemies and a fissure at 5:00.
She told me it"s gonna be a rough ride, she wasn't joking, sometimes during those painful tears, I would call, my sisters, and cry to them, which was terrible for me to do, because it made them feel so bad.
Now...WOW.Image smooth easy and thinner BM"s, with no pain at all (keep your BM as smooth, loose and thin and easy as you can, very important, for life) or blood.
In fact I went twice today, morning and afternoon, with no pain..I still get that spasm/burning that can reach a 1 to 2 on the pain level, for about 4 hours then I"m sore after , like I have done a load of thigh lunges (butt exercises).
My pharmacist, has been very helpful when I can't always contact my Doctor. She stated that," in time that discomfort from the nerves from smooth muscle/sphincter will also cancel it self out and relax more.
Please give it time it will become less and less,But what ever you decide, surgery or not, time will heal it,that I and all of us know.
Keep reading every ones stories and post"s and keep your head up. WE are here for you..Image
