They appear to be long lasting as far as I've heard.
But even if not, the benefit to the procedure is it evidently can be repeated if need be without incurring further risk.

Nahkti,
Sorry to read through your plight but just wanted you to know and gain reassurance from the fact that YES, anal fissures can heal. I used Diltiazem cream for 7 weeks extremely successfully (along with all the other stuff you need to do!) I think it took a total of about 4 months to heal my fissure, which had become chronic but I got there! Finally confirmed as healed and no issues (touch wood) since. That was back in March of this year. The key to healing& the time the process takes varies from individual to individual but there are many success stories! Have faith you will get there in the end (and some patience too!) and hoping you will find your "cure" very soon. All the best to you....
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

P.S - One guy on this site reported using a small vibrator by inserting it internally into his anus to help relieve his fissure! He says this has really helped him. I guess this is a little like the Dilation technique in some ways, although Jr2 will be able to offer you more advice there.........

Hi Reptaronice,
I'm not sure if I should give the doctor's name here as it was given to me in a private message, but if you read this post you will see the original poster and one of his threads where he discussed the procedure. He also did a lot of followup posts to share his recovery. Ths was his initial post. http://anal-fissure.org/t4737-pneumatic-balloon-dilation-and-skin-tag-removal-1-week-ago
If you click on BGAN's profile you can send a private message to him to ask the name of his physician at the Cleveland Clinic. I just want to make sure I'm not violating his privacy by posting the name here? I hope you understand?

I will do that. I have been considering going to NY or another state to have this done and seeing that this is within a few hours is very good news indeed. I am looking to get the information and offline would be great.
Thanks
