AF Botox Question

Postby vdb324 » 13 Oct 2013, 14:42

Did anyone who had Botox or a tag removal notice that they had looser stool than usual the days following the surgery? I am taking painkillers, which should make more constipated, but my BMs are very loose (6, if not a 7 on the scale) and have been that way for the past four days. Because of it, it makes my need for the bathroom more urgent.

I am taking the same amount of Miralax, fiber supplement and stool softeners as before surgery (which didn't result in this problem). I am also not eating a super high fiber diet. I mean, I get my fruits, veggies and whole grains, but I am not going out of my way, so I don't think it's caused by my diet. Did anyone else experience this after the procedure? It seems strange, seeing I am supposed to be more constipated with the painkillers. I am hoping this will pass with a little time.

After I had Botox I found that as soon as I felt the urge to go.... That was it.. It would have to get to the bathroom super fast . I'm not sure why, I just assumed it was where the Botox had loosened me up.
As the Botox started wearing off, so did the urgency to go.

Hi VDB,
I definitely had this problem! I needed to get there as soon as possible, and I had no control over gas... Very embarrassing.
It eased after a few weeks. How many Fissures do you have? Are you getting some relief with the Botox? X
Hem Banding sept 2012
2Fissures
Nitro- Effective short term
April 2013-Botox-Effective short term
Diltazem-No effect, developed Rash
July 2014-Diagnosed High Resting Pressure
LIS performed on 17.9.14
Ongoing pain/re-tears. Awaiting pressure test results.

Thanks for both of your responses. It seemed to ease after the first couple of days, fortunately. I was very nervous about going to work, so I am very grateful it took care of itself before then.

I have one fissure, and it's hard to tell if it's working. I am on my eighth day post-surgery, and with the tag removal, it's hard to tell what pain is from the tag removal vs. the fissure during and after a BM (the tag was located at the end of my fissure). I did notice that it does seem looser down there when I insert the cream, so that was a good sign. I am hoping to get a better gauge of it in the next week or so, after the tag removal site has healed some more.

Yes.... The tag removal site will take a while to heal over, so be extra careful and gentle with your bott for another few weeks. I hope you notice an improvement soon!
