Well guys and gals,
Here i am after reading a lot on this lovely forum for quite a while i thought i would come along and say hello. :butthurts:

I have been suffering with hems for years and every so often i would get them banded then they come back with a vengence. Anyhow back in 2011 i went away on hols and started to treat what i thought was hems only to come back from hols and finally see a out of hours dr to be told its an AF. Im like what i thought the pain was a hem, the glass like feeling and the bleeding really got to me i was that bad i felt like i wanted to die at that point. The Dr gave me a script for Rectogesic and after driving round in trying to find a chemist with some i managed to get home and use some of the cream.
God i was not prepared for the headaches but after taking some tabs it did start to ease but the AF took weeks to heal, finally it did and i was also seen by a specialist who also confirmed the AF and changed my cream to anoheal which was less painful to my head but to me did not feel like it was healing. Anyhow some how it healed and all was well until last year maybe Oct/nov when i could feel the pain again, this time no blood but agony. Again seen my own GP this time and was told its hems, given treatment and eventually they healed but not for long as back in June the little devils reared their ugly heads again. There i am treating hems only to be told its not its an AF again. SO i have an appt to see a specialist in Aug and with seeing him i asked for an EUA if they go looking as i dont want to be awake when they go looking. He said they would do botox when under and check other areas too.

So a few weeks later i get that appt for the EUA and when i go in all is ok no pain nothing until they do the investigation and find no AF but 2 internal hems, they band both of those but in the process agravaite the AF i did have and so since the EUA i have had another one. Arrghhhhhhhhhh anyhow, seen Specialist last monday and he has again said to use Anoheal for 6-8 weeks, he will see me in Jan and if not healed by then look at botox again.

I am so annoyed as it healed and they started it all of again. I watch what i eat, i use laxido to help keep my stools soft and i try and bare the rectogesic cream as i feel that has a better effect but the headaches are literally a pain in the rear.

Anyhow thats my life so far and i know there is light at the end of the tunnel i just wanted to share my experience so far.

Thanks for reading x

Hi Jonye, and welcome to most exclusive club on the internet!
I'm very sorry you are in pain. We all know what it's like, and we are all rooting for you to get better. Thank you for telling your story. Stick around, and tell us how you get on, ask for help, tell us what helps you, or just vent.

It sounds as though you've had a lot of bad luck! It's maddening to go to a doc for help and come out feeling worse.
There is one other fissure medication you can try - Nifedipine. It works the same way as anoheal and rectogesic, and has much less side effect. It didn't help me, but it might help you. I tried all three and rectogesic, (= trinitroglycerol) was the one for me, but others have healed using nifedipine.

Good luck! :smilyhug:
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
