As much as you are thirsty, you come across a river full of beautifully crystal clean water that habitats lots of harmful bacterium, parasites, fungus, spores, etc. yet you would never see it in the water - would you take a drink from it knowing that this is the only source of water left on your journey but doing so you would get wildly sick and have a good chance to die from it - but you will die anyway since there is nothing else to drink and you are very very thirsty.
