Hi Guiness, white bread is very binding. i used to get rabbit pellets. i have IBS and this comes with constipation.
What has really helped me is taking spinach in smoothies with almond milk and pear.
I do take Fibre in my diet, but the CRS prescribed me Fybogel, which is used for IBS, Hems,Fissures and constipation. I take one sachet in the evening after my main meal, then i take a movicol before i go to bed.
Fybogel works naturally with your body to treat constipation without undue straining, discomfort or unnatural urgency, so helping to restore and maintain regularity. You put the sachet in 150ml of water and drink. you also need to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Maybe you could try it? I am using this until i can start my FODMAP diet. The dietician is helping me with this, so i can come off the meds.

Hi Guiness,
Cut out all the white foods as soon as you can (bread/ pasta/ rice) and replace with wholemeal brown. Be wary of too many eggs and under-ripe bananas too as they can also be binding! Ensure you are eating at least 5 pieces of fruit and veg per day (even tinned and frozen counts) Fybogel mixed with water is fab and actually tastes OK and loads of fluids! - Give yourself a few days for your body to adjust to your dietary changes and it also might be worth asking yourself if you actually need that later BM or feel you should have it out of habit etc....I was really struggling at one point believing I should be having BMs at set times, foolishly straining a little to pass very little and once I really sat back and analysed it all, realised I was probably forcing an unneeded BM out of habit! ....It might also be worth considering a swap from the Dulcolax to a more gentle stool softener as long-term use can add to issues with constipation. My gut instinct was for you to up your fluid intake a LOT but I'm not a professional and you could always chat to a GP to review your diet etc....

So i looked at the fodmap diet and it seems that alot of foods on that list are the same ones that i hate eating because they make my stomach stick out like im pregnant, and then i start the rabbit pellet thing for the next few hours. This has been going on for two night now and needs to stop before i rip my butt open again. Therefore i am choosing my high fiber foods from the yes list. Ive had this trouble for years.... Didnt understand why these healthy foods were making me feel so yucky and constipated. In the meantime im going to call my dr. I think that this constipation is the underlying cause for my fissure and god knows i will do anything to prevent another one.
