Risk of infection after LIS

Postby Bettyblue » 14 Jan 2014, 16:02

I just came back from my CRS. My LIS is tomorrow at 10 a.m. He was not concerned at all with the risk of incontinence but more with the risk of infection. He told me it can happen even if you take antibiotics and clean the area well, and can complicate things a lot - abscess+ fistula. He went on and on about this and now I am really scared with the whole thing, I haven't thought about that possibility :groan: . My got how many things to take in consideration for such a small cut! Please some thoughts about it ! How big is the risk? I forgot to ask because to tell you the truth I was a little taken aback. Thanks for your responses.

Just make sure you keep super clean. Sitz baths will help do that for you. Also, you can use a hair blower to air dry your bum. Works great to keep everything dry and free of moisture. No worries! You will be fine and wonder why you worried so much....:-)

Good luck! You'll be fine... I can't believe your CRS said that. Why borrow trouble when trouble is not really there?? He should never have said that. Stay positve always!!!
