Re: 7 Weeks Post Fissurectomy/Fistulotomy (need surgery again!)

Aw sorry to hear that.
Best of luck for the next surgery. Your problem sounds exactly what I am experiencing 3 months after a fistula surgery!

Re: considering fistulectomy for horseshoe fistula

Hey there,
I have had 2 fistula surgeries and LIS, and I have no problems with incontinence. In a competent surgeon's hands I would say the risk of it is minimal.
My recovery wasn't fun, but it wasn't unbearable! As Hope says, the first weekk is the worst.

Re: A year post-op next month~ Thanks & Good Bye!

You will be so badly missed Dawn. You are a lovely, kind lady who has given so much good advice to everybody.
What on earth is everyone going to do without you??
I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that you are never bothered by fissure problems again.
Take care xx

Re: VAL needs advice everyone! PLease ask & help her x

Aw great news Sue! Have you got the same surgeon that you saw privately? Make sure when you actually go in for the op that it is actually a qualified CRS doing it - sometimes if they are busy they use a locum. That's what I got when I had a botched surgery. I read somewhere about borax for thrush so...

Re: Winning or Losing?

If it were me, I would take some milk of magnesia tonight, and use some diltiazem or nitro on before bed and before tomorrow's BM.
Or vaseline?

Re: Is surgery worth it?

Well, no surgery is going to happen without some degree of pain! And anal surgery is notoriously painful. But at least when it is done, you know you are on the path to healing. And the pain isn't too bad - if you have tolerated the pain of a fissure then you can tolerate surgery - take that from a w...

Re: HEY GUYS!! NEED HELP BIG TIME

Stool softeners such as miralax/movicol are a MUST for anyone suffering with a fissure. It isn't some strange magical cure that has only worked for me and Hope - they are recommended by any doctor or colo-rectal surgeon and is a no-brainer for anyone with any common sense. Hard stools +fissure=lots ...

Re: Up for 25+ hours thanks to spasm...

Do you not have something called co-codamol, or similar? That would be codeine mixed with paracetamol?
I do hope you get some relief soon, those spasms are awful. You could perhaps try massaging the area in a hot bath?

Re: For those of you who want to hear a Botox success story...

Why do yu need to "defend" the fact that botox isn't surgery? We have people here who are from all parts of the world and some will have to go through the whole "surgery" experience because of where they are from, so yes, to them, it is going to be a big deal. LIS, I think, is also performed just in...
