Re: In the Uk and don't know what to do!

Sorry the botox hasn't worked Sue - not surprised it hasn't though! Our health"care" system sucks - it may be free but it's rubbish!
I think if it was me, I would get another opinion - it might be worth the money to get someone who will listen to you and respect your wishes.

Re: Help!!

LIS is where they cut the anal muscle to relieve the pressure and tightness that is preventing the fissure from healing.
If you have a skintag, then it is likely that your fissure is chronic, and would need medical intervention such as LIS or botox.
I had LIS - my only regret is not having it sooner!

Re: Question for the women. . .

I think spasms make the whole area tight - all the muscles must be connected, so it makes sense!
Mine felt the same way too.

Best of luck with your appointment, hope everything is normal and healing.

Re: finally got the ditz 2% cream

Well said - most doctors are clueless about fissures! Yes, the diltiazem will work if its just rubbed onto the area.It takes 3 or 4 days at least to start to work, so its not an instant fix, but it should help. A CRS would be a wonderful idea - if you have a skintag, then it probably wont heal with ...

Re: VAL needs advice everyone! PLease ask & help her x

Thanks Dawn! Well, my surgeon is on holiday until 1st november, but I telephoned his stand-in secretary (his usual secretary is also on holiday) and had a little moan about everything, saying I thought it should be sorted out at the private hospital instead of making me wait 6 months for an nhs appo...

Re: o have op probably on 04.11...I am so afraid !!!

I was terrified too, I think most people are scared to have surgery "down there!"
But I'm sure you will find, as most of us do, that it isn't as bad as you imagine it to be!
Best of luck!

Re: Prolonged Use of Softeners/Laxatives

No miralax isn't the same as lactulose. In the UK we call miralax movicol.
