**SELF-DILATION FOLLOWING ANAL SURGERY**

Postby Savaici » 09 Sep 2015, 11:21

This is well worth a look at for all those with pain following surgery. I don't know why more CRSs don't suggest this, or do they think we are all idiots and can't do this ourselves...

Its quite uncomfortable putting your finger in your anus and trying to stretch it but he assured me that this is the only way for this and its only been six days since my op. Use pedriatic dilators, as I did. Much easier.

I’ve done self dilation without surgery. It was born out of a ‘Jesus Christ I gotta do something moment’. First thing in the morning I rip a couple fingers off a pvc glove, put on index and middle finger, lube up with a bit of anusol. Work the index around until can fit the middle in the anus, then gradually spread and work around. Have done many types of laxiatives and calcium channel blockers before, but self dilation seems to work best for me. Out of all the laxatives, my go to when I have real problems is Restorlax. I’ve had some dark years without this and hope it might help so eone.

Hi Miked, Restoralax is macrogol = polyethylene glycol, i.e. the same as Miralax, Movicol, Laxido, etc.

Self-dilation is one possible method of treatment for AF. It needs to be done with care, and preferably under medical supervision. I'm glad it has worked for you.
