Short term Leave after LIS

Postby HLT2 » 13 Apr 2019, 13:58

How long did you have to take off work after LIS surgery? I was expecting only a week based on what the surgeon said, but so far I’ve been off two weeks post surgery and still do not feel pain free enough to go back. I work a desk job and sit all day, plus have severe pain during and for hours after bms and some severe bleeding which is off and on. I have to take pain meds after every Bm. The fissure definitely doesn’t feel like it’s healing yet. Follow up with surgeon is in 2 weeks, but saw my GI and she said it still is a “nasty fissure”. Scared about them (surgeon) rejecting extensions for short term disability.

I’m sure if you explain everything to them like you have here they will understand and grant you more leave.

Thanks for your response! Worry is my middle name (not a good combo to promote healing). I was granted another week so hoping things will be getting better by then :)
