Stenotic anus following surgery...

Postby dsmith48 » 10 Feb 2016, 18:48

Approximately 8 years ago I suffered an anal fissure and had it "fixed". I have been diagnosed with a severe and progressive stenosis (narrowing) of the anus and more surgery has been recommended. I use a Metamucil-like additive in my coffee every morning and now my very soft stools are from 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter. This new Dr. is suggesting a procedure that involved a tissue graft from outside the anus. Does anyone have any experience with this situation and, if so, what is your opinion. I am considering a "second opinion" from another surgeon.

You might like to read posts by one of our Moderators, suzyljank, who had double flap surgery. She is doing very well now, a couple of years or so later.
