Suppository and pain

Postby patience_and_healing » 17 Mar 2017, 09:26

I've been using calmol 4 suppositories to help with lubrication when having a BM and I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience while using suppositories. When I first insert it, there's no pain (there used to be) and then there's the natural muscle reflex that pulls the suppository into the body. It's at that point that I feel a sharp pinch of pain, almost always on the right side of the sphincter, and then it passes. Could this be an internal hemorrhoid? I've had this pain since December when my I was using wrongly prescribed hydrocortisone suppositories. I've been freaking out that maybe it's a fissure that extends all the way up. I've no way of knowing until I meet the CRS and she looks up there with her scope.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

Hi,

it all depends where your fissure is - I used to have the same pinch. I had a fissure quite far up as well as on the sphincter, and I also had haemorrhoids so hard to tell what caused what!!

I found having a sitz bath prior to insertion helped massively with that pinch, maybe give that a go?

Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

Thanks for your input. A warm bath does not help with the pain of insertion. I think I'll use them less often just in case I'm irritating something internally. Is your fissure fully healed after surgery?
