Surgery again!

Postby Guest » 18 Apr 2007, 20:32

Well, I just got home from my second surgery. First one early February, didnt do the trick. I had a fisurectomy, fistulotomy, and botox.injections back then. That surgery did heal my fistula, but did not fully heal my fissure.
After 2 months the botox was wearing off and my CRS advised me to redo the procedure to keep the healing. Todays surgery was another fisurectomy and botox injections to heal the fissure. He also addressed 2 hemmys that he banded while I was there. He is quite confident that this will do the trick. My fissure was not nearly as deep as it was at the beginning and is smaller in size also. He said I needed the repeat surgery most likely because of the fistula that I had. When he cut open the fistula it basicly left a 1 inch long open "ditch" that ran right up to the fissure, so that the ditch healed but I was left with the fissure. So I will be crossing my fingers that I wont be back in the hospital again. I was much more relaxed this time as I am becomming an ole pro at this. Now to go remove the bandages and soak in the tub. Well, hope everything went OK. Its interesting that the fistula basically channeled to the fissure, in your case. I'm sure that's making the fissure extra difficult to heal. Hopefully you haven't (and aren't having) too much pain.
Hope your recovery goes easily and smoothly!

Wow, Bill the Botox Boy! I can't beleive how much you have been going through. How do you manage the pain? Are you able to live a reasonably normal life with all this going on?
How did you find the side effects of botox to be? Any problems with incontinence or uncertainty about when it was time to go to the bathroom? Did you bottom feel different at all like it was slack all the time? I am just trying to get an idea of what it feels like before possible pursuing it myself.
I am sorry to hear you have had to repeat some things to get the results you need. I hope that this does the trick!

I am in quite a bit of pain right now from the banding of the Hemmy's. I dont really have any problems going poo. The botox really hasn't caused me any issues, sometimes i sense urgency, but nothing that is too bad. I am still just resting after the surgery, off for 2 weeks of work. I can get around ok....and do stuff, but the banding Hurts like a ..... I soak in the tub 5 times a day and so far have completed about 30 suduko puzzles.
I am taking 2 norco pills for pain every 4 hours. Metamucil 2 times per day. Celebrex 2 per day for inflammation. Stool softener 2 times per day. Drinking lots of water. (hafta to get all those down)
I hope like heck that it works this time. I like people checking out my butt, except this NOT what I ment. I am just so glad that I am not having all the bleeding I had with the fistulotomy...I cant stand the sight of it. If anyone has any questions please ask, I think I have just about had a complete overhaul by now. Bill the botox boy

Oh, you poor thing! You have a lot of courage, mon brave! I have had about 10 bandings over the last 4 years so I know the pain it can be. I think with you it is worse because you have all this active inflammtion there. Normally it only hurt me for a day but I didn't have all that other stuff too.
Do you have any help at home? I feel bad just picturing you hobbling around your house. I am glad you have some time off from work and that is good you are keeping your mind active-that will help with the pain.
My electric bill is pretty high these days with all the heating of the hot water I have had with the 2-3 baths a day but I have finished a lot of books I have been meaning to read.
Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting along!

Doing Ok

Postby Guest » 27 Apr 2007, 14:29

Well just to let you all know that I am still around. I have been doing all my meds and lots of soaks in the tub....I am a suduko junkie now. I am feeling pretty good. I am happy to say that the pain from the banding of the roids is over and I am glad that I dont have the bleeding that I had last surgery. I just hope and pray that come Wednesday the Dr says that everything is looking good. I want this to be OVER and how. I just got the bills all paid from the first surgery, now I am ready for the new ones. I hope that I can enjoy this weekend perhaps lie around in the sun and get some color. TTYL Botox Bill

Hey Botox Bill!
Good to hear from you. I know this has been a long, drawn out process hasn't it? It sounds like the end of this ordeal is coming and you will be getting a clean bill of health soon.
Let us know what the doctor says!

Botox Bill,
How did you know the botox was wearing off after 2 months?
Did you begin to have pain again, or did the Doctor tell you. Just wandering because mine is supposed to last 3 months and I am slowly approaching the 2 month mark ( about 2 1/2 weeks.).
