Two CRS suggestions - Botox or LIS

Postby Myitzu » 29 Jun 2016, 17:56

I have seen with first specialist and he suggested me to do for Botox but I haven't done yet and I went for second opinion. Later yesterday, I have seen with second specialist and he suggest me that my sphincter was too tight and botox injection won't be healed my fissure and go for LIS. He told me that he didn't need to cut 1/3, only a little.
Please suggest me should I go for LIS, I understand that this is my decision but with your experience, please advice me, thanks in advance.

Hi Myitzu,
I think different surgeons have different opinions. I really did not want Botox but as my fissure is long n deep two surgeons said Botox would aid healing so the LIS wouldn't need to be as drastic.
I have had Botox now into 3rd week and I can tell a big difference....I would say if you have normal bowel habit or are constipated maybe give it a go as my sphincter is certainly less tight. If on the other hand you are like me and go way too much..don't bother with Botox because although my sphincter is a lot more relaxed going to the loo 5x in an hour will stop any kind of healing.
At the end of the day you have to do what's best for you... I would have the surgery tomorrow...who cares about the risk of incontinence my surgeon said marks on pants is the most people get...when you compare that to the agony of fissures.
Also read the recovery diaries on here I know I did
Good luck with whichever option you choose

Hi Mypoorbutt,
thanks for your advice and greatly appreciated, I have been suffering fissure pain for 8 months now and last specialist told me that my sphincter is too tight (born to be tight), so the best way to fix with LIS for my age. It can be recovered in two weeks time. My BM is two times a day, 5am in the morning and 2-3pm in the afternoon but feel pain sensation and tight while I had BM. I think, I better go with LIS rather then Botox, even first specialist can not grantee that it can be fixed with Botox injection.
Thanks again and good luck for tomorrow surgery, wish you all the best and speedy recovery.
P.S may you please let me know how are you going with LIS, cheers.
