Proper Sitz Bath Temperature?

Postby William2 » 04 Feb 2017, 17:39

What's the proper temperature for a sitz bath? An internet search yields all kinds of answers. I've been doing 103-104F at the start. After 15 minutes, it's down to about 99F. I'm wondering if I should go higher, or if that is bad for you.

In case anyone is wondering, I use a Coralife digital aquarium thermometer.
8/09 - 12/10: fissure, cured by LIS/fissurectomy
1/17 - present: fissure/hemms, healed but pain remained, 3 CRSs (nifedipine, infrared coag) were no help, cold dilating >= 1" helped but still have pain when sitting

Hi William,

I'm not entirely sure!!! I just make it to a regular bath temperature minus a few degrees. I find it more soothing - not sure if there is any research out there on it?

Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21
