I'm a young gay man here with pain going on for about three and a half years that has really affected my sex life. The symptoms aren't as clear as what I see most people talking about on the forum. It's a burning/sore sensation that forms like a ring around my rectum about half an inch to an inch in. At first I was convinced it was hemorrhoids until the doctor noticed unusual mucus production in my stool and thought it was colitis, the original colonoscopy came out negative however, so that was ruled out.
I went to a second doctor who performed a sigmoidoscopy and found my rectum to be pretty swollen and called it proctitis, tons of meds didn't help, from suppositories to foam, nothing helped. Went to a third specialist who found a small fissure which was surprising because I'd abstained from anal sex for almost a year at that point. Went back to my original specialist who, disconcerted at the pain in my rectum, asked for me to have another colonoscopy, he found a small polyp near the rectal area and had it removed.
One year later (about three/four months ago) I'm still getting pain down there so I ask him for anything to examine the area. During an exam he finds a very small fistula and it is removed. That was about four months ago. A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I tried sex for the first time since the operation and the pain, again, was unbearable. What do I do now
