Showering the ass after BM

How long do you guys shower your ass after BM? I always did it for like 10 seconds or something and today my doc said i should do it for 2-3 Minutes. Thoughts?

I'll have surgery on Tuesday and I think what your doctor suggests sounds reasonable. You want to make sure it's really clean.

In the beginning after my LIS I would do 5 mins at least now I probably do around 1/2 mins depending and if I have had a very watery BM I will go back to doing 5 mins as the warm water helps relax the sphincter
