*New Here* Question!! Dilator?! Yes or No

Postby Seriouslysarah » 03 Mar 2018, 09:17

Hey!! I’ve watched from afar for awhile but figured I’d join to ask others experience.

I dealt with a fissure almost 2 years ago and to this day still have pain which I believe are from spasms?!?! (I start to feel sore after a BM and for most of the day). I have a bit of burning where the scar tissue would be and then the complete opposite side is sore as well. I went to a CRS who was awesome and she said everything looked great but could tell my muscles were tight. I’ve been doing pelvic physio for a while and have noticed some difference but not a ton. I’ll have a good day here and there where I’m totally fine, and others where I’m sore again. I’m using nifedipine ointment and magnesium to manage muscles stuff. Question is - I’m considering dilators as I know I’m tight. Does this help with spasms?! I know for me it’s a HUGE mind thing. I’m literally aware of my bum sensations 24/7, but if I’m out with friends and not focused on it I don’t feel the symptoms. I just can’t seem to get things to chill out for good despite being 1.5 years post. Thoughts?
:thankyou:

I thought about trying them too actually.... In my Country they're quite popular but I don't think the NHS prescribes or advise them..... I'm scared enough to try them, let alone without a specialist recommending them... The pain is getting crazy though, so I might just try. Will let you know if I do!!

Nectarine - I’m in the US currently and no doctor has advised me sticking anything up there lol! I had one physio tell me to put a finger glove on with some vitamin E oil from a capsule and gently rub circular motions inside the sphincter. That drastically decreased my all day burning. I still have spasms though so I’m wondering if an overall gradual stretch from dilators would help stop that?
