Botox in the UK

Postby Guest » 23 Oct 2008, 08:17

At last I have found how to write something. Sorry I am just a beginner.
I want to reply to the sufferer who asked about Botox. I have had it and i live in the UK. It is magical, or was for me. At last 2 months of painfree existence. Amazing. It was horrendously painful when they administered it. I was the first patient who my specialist had worked on "awake" That's both of us awake, not just him!!! There was no form of anesthesia suitable, he said. However as soon as the needle was withdrawn, no pain at all. I had it done privately it cost almost Ј500 if you include the pre and follow up consultations. I had only very minor side effects for the next few days and after that cured!!!!!! I even went on holiday including a 6 hour flight 2 weeks later.
After 2 months I am now in pain again but, touch wood, nothing like before so I hope that my muscles are still calm even though the Botox I believe has now worn off.
Would I have it done again? Yes Yes Yes. Not sure its on the NHS but my GP is trying to find out and has already refered me.
Good Luck

That is great to hear that you had that option in the UK. We have one boardie who got it done in Scotland. What part of the UK are you from.
So glad that it has helped you-that is terrific news. Thanks for sharing, Janet!

I wonder if you were replying to me ??
I am from Scotland and had the Botox on the 8th of September done through the NHS.
Sorry to hear you have some pain just now, but glad things are not in a bad way...
I think only some areas of the UK have Botox available on the NHS Image
I am interested to know how long you suffered from fissure and how long did you remain
Pain free ?
Goodluck Janet and many thanks for sharing !

Hi Janet & and welcome Image
I am another Botox junkie :) Had my second shot on August 26th, and one in July. The first one didn't work, but the second has worked...sort of. I was awake as well, and no local anaesthetic for me either...sickening pain!
I don't think Botox is an option if I need to have it again and again to be painfree/heal the fissure. If that is the case I would try LIS instead. I would never ever have used Botox for cosmetic reasons as it is a toxin, and I am not happy to use so much of it in my butt either... :)

Welcome, Janet!
We need all the botox stories we can get here, so other's can get a realistic idea of what their chances for healing are with that particular approach, so your tale is very timely and useful -- thanks for sharing it!!
