Question regarding perianal abscess/fistula

Postby AGS1H0321 » 05 Jun 2018, 12:16

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting. I would appreciate any responses and am looking to see if anyone has had a similar situation to me.

For as long as I can remember sporadically when I would have a BM I would feel a sharp pain/burning feeling and when I would wipe there would be a little blood.

In October of 2014 or 2015 (I can't recall) I was experiencing terrible pain; the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I went on with the pain for about two weeks before I went to see a doc at Urgent Care. The doc told me I had an anal fissure and Rx me a cream. Anyway, when applying the cream one day I felt a lump the size of a quarter-half dollar at about 7 o'clock right under my anus. This lump was so tender when I touched it I nearly cried. So I was a fool and went another few days until I could no longer take the pain and went to the ER. To make a long story short, they had to call in a specialist and I was dx with a peri-anal abscess and they drained it in the ER. The pain relief was instant.

Now, since it was drained I was told a fistula formed. I was supposed to have surgery back in 2016 and my insurance denied the procedure. So, I had been seeing a colon/rectal specialist and he basically told me that the abscess is going to come back one day and when it gets to the point where the pain is unbearable again they'll drain it.

Over the past few years I had had a pea sized-dime sized abscess in the same position. Sometimes I can hardly feel it and sometimes (like right now) after a painful BM it will become inflamed and I can feel it/slight pain. The pain is no where near what I had experienced in the past. When I press on it the pain is worse but bearable in day-to-day life.

Sometimes when I can feel it I will look at the abscess in the mirror and it will look like a big pimple with a yellow head on it. My guess is that the abscess will fill up with puss, a head will form, and it will drain on its own. Right now, its the largest its been in a while and I do not see a head on it.

Sorry, I know this was a long thread but wanted to see if anyone had experienced anything similar?

Thanks!
