Scheduled LIS Today

Postby j_gopie » 08 Jun 2018, 19:26

First of all I just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum. I've been suffering with a fissure since the middle of April and I thought I was being a huge wimp. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that this little cut has reduced to tears. (Sorry, but it's true.)

After spending every second of every day for the past two months thinking about this pain in my butt non-stop, I've bit the bullet and scheduled an LIS for Tuesday morning at 8. I can't sit down without taking an advil. I'm a 24 year old guy who just finished university. I should be enjoying life not spending all day under his sheets trying to get his butt to stop aching. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Wish me luck.
:thanx:

Edit: Okay, surgery is due in less than two hours. Wish me luck guys!

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear about your fissure.

I'm not personally familiar with them but I've read they are not pleasant in the least bit.

Can they not heal on their own?

Wishing it all works out for you. They are never nice things to deal with.

They can sometimes heal on their own, but not if they're determined to be chronic which mine has. A sentinel pile (skin tag) has already begun to form which meant that it wouldn't heal without some sort of intervention. Thanks for the support Mike. I'm nervous, and I hope that it works out.

Hey! Yeah I did. Surgery was yesterday. I slept after it was done and just woke up basically. It was a really straight forward procedure. So far I haven't really used the washroom, but the worst pain is just some mild throbbing at the incision site. We'll see how things go going forward!

Congrats, and good luck with the recovery. I hope that your first BM is as easy as mine was.

It was! I'm actually still pessimistic about the procedure even though I'm pain free. I don't want to let myself believe that the hell is over just to be disappointed. I haven't had any leakage or bleeding or anything.

That's great! Keep up the good work. And I know that feeling well - expect the worst and hope for the best.

Day 6 post op update:

Things are okay. Haven't had any pain at the fissure site. The incision site aches if I sit on the toilet for too long. Worryingly, I had a sharp spike of pain post-bm on Saturday night and two lumps formed near the entrance to my anus. Yesterday they popped and they've been discharging a sort of reddish fluid. Going back to the doctor on Thursday to have it checked out. I just want my life back. This is so depressing.
