Hello, I was diagnosed with a posterior anal fissure on 7/1/2011. I was prescribed to use the diatezem cream with lidocaine, and Levsin tablets 4x a day (to help quiet my bowel). So I have been using that for 6 weeks now, twice a day. I saw a surgeon 10 days ago, and they added 10,000 IU of vitamin A to the mix.
I have been a vegan for quite sometime and my daily morning usually consisted of 3 to 5 bowels, fairly soft, never hard or constipated (I think my condition is from too much of a good thing, and the Levsin has got me down to 1 to 2). My normal diet is mainly all fiber and I also added Konsyl now so my fiber intake is 30 or more grams daily. For 5 weeks I had intense spasm, burning, stinging, throbbing ans sometimes intense itching, but very little pain at the time of evacuation. Over the last several days, the intense pain is gone (I have up and down days and moments though), I am just uncomfortable, from the feeling that I am not normal. Am I on the road to recovery, without LIS???
