I'm new & really miserable & embarrassed

Postby Sam » 06 Oct 2011, 08:31

sooo I'll start off by telling you all about myself....I'm 23 years old, female, & I'm pretty sure I have an anal fissure Image & it sucks! I've had it for like a little over a month. I haven't told anyone about my problem, it's gross & embarrassing. I feel ashamed :( anyway I'm pretty sure this was caused by being constipated & pushing to hard. I hate taking shits now, bc it's really painful & theres blood on the toilet paper & it freaks me out. taking a shit is suppose to be natural & relieving but it's NOT that way for me! I'm scared to go lol I haven't seen a doctor & don't want to go yet unless it gets worse... I'm looking for tips on how to get rid of this damn embarrassing problem! I'm taking fiber choice chewables, stool softeners, drinking more water than usual, & sometimes sitz baths. is there anything else I should be doing?! i just want to be normal I'm tired of freaking out over taking a dump & my asshole to be sore afterwards!

Don't be embarrassed, your doing the basics. If you can, avoid your family doctor and go see a good GI or CRS. They look at butt holes all day so yours isn't special. They can prescibe a few things to try while it's still early. As far as softners, try Miralax. Most of us have used colace and it's fairly useless. Above all, don't wait to see a doc. The longer you wait if it's not healing , the less likely it is to heal on its own.

Aw Sam, please don't feel ashamed and embarrassed. I'm 28 and female and I know exactly how you feel. Over the past few months after a gynae op and all this I felt like I wanted to die of embarrassment. But when I was in hospital they told me not to worry, and that it was part of their job. I would go to the docs and they can give you some cream, if you get it identified early enough it could heal on its own. They took a long time to identify mine which has been part of the problem! I have found that taking Evening Primrose Oil capsules with Vitamin E in has helped. Also been taking garlic to boost my immune system and this has helped too (not sure if thats definitely worked fissure-wise but has certainly helped to settle my stomach). I tried fybogel but as I have IBS it disagreed with me but it may be worth a try for you. Have a look on some of the other threads and there may be some suggestions. Just be wary of taking too much magnesium though as it didn't agree with me! (may be my IBS again!!). Hope you feel better soon Image

Hi sam, welcome to this board! Sadly though... I was like u embarrassed, and imagine the details I nd to give to my CRS! But hey, they r doctors, and also the pain had overwhelmed me that I prayed some doctors cld indeed help me! So once u past that first consultation, believe me, u wld wan to keep going, as u know u nd someone professional to help u heal that damn thing!
U r blessed to hav alr started on the gd side to get better. I didnt even know I had anal fissures when I first got it.
Anyway do go to CRS ASAP, it can b fissure or piles or both.

Hi Sam, I totally understand the embarrassment you are talking about. I had never had any problems like this before now. But my pain was so bad at the time of my appt I didnt even care that I was going to have to bare my booty. I was just wanting someone to help me start healing. Its gets easier with each appointment, I promise, but you will be so glad that you did it. They can definetly get you through this horrible experience. There are so many people out there having the same problems we are but we are the smart ones getting professionals involved to help us take care of it and find places like this for support from people that are going through the same things. I am one week out from LIS Surgery and finally feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck

thanks for the support and the replies you guys! i appreciate it, i understand that seeing a doctor is probably best, im guessing that CRS stands for colon rectal specialist..correct me if im wrong. i will try to find one to go to soon, should i tell anyone about my problem and why im going to the doctor? i want to tell my mom but im embarrassed duh and i have a boyfriend i dont want to tell him bc im not sure how he will react, he'll probably be grossed out. i guess ill keep this private ?? anyway took a dump today hurt like hell feels like im shitting a rock lol FML also went to walmart today bought some things that might help me; miralax, metamucil capsules, flushable wipes, also some spring valley vitamin E supplement pills maybe thatll help some? anyway i appreciate any suggestions and tips from you guys thanks!

sam, to be frank, bcos of my pains, i can't stop telling others! I told my bosses (have to), and my colleagues (they are close) , close frens, churchmates (for prayers) and my mom (so i could cry unto her despite i'm 31 this yr! But she has just passed on...) and of cos, my hubby (who has received all the details including the state of my stools and my bms almost every other day, haha)
so... get as many support emotionally as u can. My frens and colleagues were trying to help me by even watching out the things i'm eating!

Yeah, I tell everyone too. Mostly because I was in so much pain it was obvious. You get to the point after crying in pain. Seeing doctor. Getting up on the table and having them tilt your ass up and you feel like a car on a lift that you stop bring embarrassed. Plus as u can see, it effects a lot of people but know one talks about it. Knowing what I know now I would set up an ass pain display if I ran a
pharmacy. I will talk about any problem with anyone, my wife. Not so much. Lol. She still can't believe the stuff I will tell people.
