1 month post LIS check in

Postby chris.d » 08 Jan 2012, 20:47

Hello, 1 month later and well, feel much better. Maybe ? 80% better.
I'm wondering about a few lingering symtoms though.
Please chime in if you've had any similar experiences.
* a bit of a "fragile down there" feeling still hanging on.
* although BM's are so thankfully going well, there is still a "small amount" of disscomfort at the old fissure site. Again, small amount and usually only with harder stool but?
* increased amount of gas in general?
* occasional seemingly random sharp pain at old fissure site?
* I'm a little scared of not taking 1 dose of Miralex daily.
...Is taking a daily stool softener a bad idea in general?
I have my 1st follow up appointment with the DR. tomorrow.
Really appreciate any comments from other post LIS folks.
It seems it's a slow type of recovery and I hope I'm not being too sensitive but I have to wonder a little.
All in all, I'm thankful and of course hope I can remain fissure free.

Every one of your bullet points is dead on. At 1 month out I still had all of those symptoms just no shards of glass or spasms afterwards. It's a slow healing process that is for sure. I've been taking a dose of Miralax daily since 3 days prior to my LIS (09/23). CRS said it's fine to take for life if needed as it's not a stimulant laxative but an osmotic. It just aids in drawing water into the colon. Best of luck man and remember to stay on the diet and take it easy for at least 8-12 weeks.

Thanks for your thoughts Tim. It's really helpful.
The Dr today said I'm healing well.
Having just turned 50, he wants me have a colonoscopy in 3 months. :(
Guess I should do that w/ him and hope that his particular brand of rock star Dr hubris and skill extends into sensitivity w/ that.

I agree with Tim , Chris. Everything you mentioned sounds pretty normal...
Good to hear you are healing well!

So ugh, guys, please tell me there's a day that will come in the not too too distant future that I "won't" have relentless gas every day?
I mean, are y'all experiencing a letting up in that dept at some point?
The Dr. said ok w/ the daily miralex.
Some random pain is not so unusual considering the nerves involved.
And, see you in 3 months for your 50 years old 1st colonoscopy.
(That worries me more than a little but "really" hope he's very careful knowing my history)
All in all, I'm feeling very thankful, especially for this place! :)
