Maybe I should have tried more to insert the gel, but for me was just to painful. Too many allergies, unfortunately. Still, I had some success with the 0.2% Nifedipine, as long as it lasted.

I so agree with you. Meditation, and guided healing visualizations are very very powerful tools in healing. A major problem with fissures (really any chronic illness) is the associated stress and anxiety that increases levels of stress hormones in the body which also impede healing. It's as important to work with the mind as it is with the fissure. There are some really wonderful CDs and mp3 sessions available and I highly recommend them. One of my favorites is a guided imagery healing series by Dr. Martin Rossman. Best 99 cents I ever spent on iTunes. Music and any other forms of relaxation therapy are really helpful.
