Pelvic Floor - Please help! :(

Postby UK fissure chick » 16 Aug 2012, 07:43

Hi all
Just posting to try and get some advice. Am in a right state. I have been having probs with fissures and piles since 2008 and have previously had botox treatment. Yesterday I went to hospital to supposedly get my fissure botoxed again and hemmys removed. After waking up from general anasthetic I was informed by the staff nurse that they could no longer see the fissure and piles, and the consultant has refered me on to the pelvic floor clinic! I got home and completely cried my eyes out, I was so confused, I informed the SN that I have been in the worst pain ever this week, my rectum has been so swollen and hot its terrible, she just said I have to go to this clinic. After researching pelvic floor, I have seen that you can have a rectum prolapse ordifferent types of sphincter problems and disorders.
Has anyone else been through this? I'm really depressed by this all, its been going on forever. I wonder whether the botox injection i had done in Feb has done something?? I still have a lump that keeps popping in and out on the outside of my anus which i dont know what it is. I cant sit down unless its on a ring cushion and struggle to sit down for more than 30 mins :(
Please, any advice is welcome, I feel so alone and confused! Image

Hi there,
I too have pelvic floor problems, and all the joy that comes with that - pain, swollen bum, difficulty in sitting, worry about eating, etc., etc., etc. I don't know if you are on Facebook, but there is a very good group there called Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support. It is a private group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/184143085606/
We all have that sensation of being alone in this, but basically we are not. Somebody on here has been there, done that and got the teeshirt.
If they have referred you to the clinic, that should be a step in the right direction to help you. Are you able to get the doctor's report from your last visit (I guess you are in the UK?), so you can get an idea of exactly what they are doing/done? The lump may be a prolapse, but may not. Don't jump (as I did!!) to conclusions until you see the specialists in this.
I have done quite a lot of research into pelvic floor disorders, and will probably next see a CRS specialised in this. I regard that as a good thing, as only want answers.
Big hug!!! Image

Hi again UK Fchick (UK should have given me a hint as to where you are  ).
Have just seen something about getting your records in the UK. http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/1309.aspx?categoryid=68&subcategoryid=160
I have always got my records, and you would be surprised the errors in them sometimes.

Hi Sav
Thanks for posting! Your post gives me hope! Yeah I am in the UK. The Day unit I was on yesterday referred me to the Pelvic Floor clinic, but they have never outright explained why they havedone this or what the lump is, the discharge nurse could not say why, just that it wasnt a fissure or hemmys anymore. Thanks for posting the link I will prob geta copy of my records shortly when i know they are up to date :)
I find like you I am in pain almost all the day and swollen, the more i sit the more the lump swells. I find my rectum sometimes feels like its on fire, its that hot and uncomfortable. My job involves sitting down all day and this aggrivates it. Standing up is better but after a while i feel like its aggrivated again, i always thought it was the hemmys lol.
Thanks for the FB link, this is a private group, do they post info and answer questions?
Do you have any idea what your prob is, pelvic dysfunction or rectal prolapse? Do you find you are in pain most of the day? I hope all goes well with your CRS!
Thanks so much for posting and the info :)

Hi there,
They do answer questions on the group, and there are a few very knowledgeable women there.
I don't know what the problem is for me. I was first told that I had a rectal prolapse and an ulcer, then not on examination (SIGMOIDOSCOPY). Said hemorrhoids and diverticulosis but they need to go further. I try hard not to strain, but it's difficult.
I am in pain for a fair part of the day, but I sleep through the night with no problems. I don't work, so spend a bit of time in the mornings lying on the sofa getting over the spasms. I have had this all for over two years, so have everything I do during the day down to a fine art. Standing up is usually not comfortable for me, but but if you get relief in standing, that could possibly be related to Pudendal nerve problems, but this is a guess.
Hope it's not a long wait until you go to the clinic. You should get some answers then. Image
