I'm not certain but I belive it's the food -> it depends what you eat. For example don't eat spicy food.
I found out that drinking milk causes burning after BMs. I quit it completely.
It will take some iterations and diet changes, but do it it's worth it.

Maybe this will help someone - I had what I thought was a fissure - went to PCP and he looked and diagnosed it as Proctitis. Long story short - I had severe anal burning, and I mean severe to the point where I thought a hospital visit was in order. Tried every cream/pain reliever I could find to no avail. When the intense burning started I had to get in a warm to hot tub and massage the anus to keep from crying. The out of desperation I tried a Celebrex 200mg and that gave me much relief. I have contatced my doctor to make him aware and see whether he can prescribe something as good or better. Have an appointment with a CRS in October; hopefully to put an end to this once and for all. Anyway, just maybe this info will help someone out there..
