Shooting pains

Postby owmybum » 22 Oct 2012, 07:16

Well I was leaning over my bath giving it a good clean, when I suddenly felt a sharp seering pain shooting up inside my rectum. I sort of froze and thought oh god have I tore something again? I have rested for a bit and cannot feel it now.. But what was it? It really scared me. Any thoughts?

OMB,
Don't panic!!! For some time after my fissure had healed and after my Fistulomy surgery, I would get that odd strong twinge/ sear of pain from the area. I think it just happens sometimes when you've been suffering in that very sensitive anal area and it's also (strangely enough) a sign of healing at times (Well, my CRS advised that it was normal).......If it was a one-off, sure you have nothing to fear!! It is scarey. If I get even a mild twinge today I panic for a few seconds but then realise it has stopped and then it's OK.
Hoping you'll be fine & it's just normal :)
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

It may have been a muscle spasm, an attack of proctalgia fugax, or maybe just a nerve that fired when a muscle clamped down on it while you were moving around.
Are you recovering from surgery? If you are, it isn't at all unusual to have all sorts of strange pains happen during any kind of surgical recovery.

Hi jr2,

no, not yet cherylk, but i have an appointment on monday with crs and i feel that, after nearly 20 months of this, i will have no more options left to me. I got on really well with the diltiazem, but then got a reaction. I feel I have no where else to go with this and just want my life back!

I think it is best to use the diltiazem only sparingly and only for as long as necessary. Others have had reactions from that also. I fully understand your stance. Could you try botox? Also, did you get the pictures?? I didn't hear back from you on that!! I sent you some additional info (link) also!
