Hi, I just found this forum. Three or four years ago, I had diagnosis of AF after 3 months of intense pain and bleeding, and being told by specialists I had everything from Haemmoroids to needing an exploratory exam. Couldn't stand the pain and waiting another three months so paid to see a private specialist. He put me in hospital to see what it was, and afterward said he couldn't find anything. Unbelievable. I hobbled back into his office five days later and said I couldn't stand it as it was worse. Back in surgery a few days later and afterward told it was an af and he had fixed it and done a sphincterotomy. No idea what that was. I thought I was fixed forever as I knew nothing about AF. After recovery. I still felt very much like I had to make sure I never ever got constipated and took benefibre and lots of water every day. One year later, I had a bm and it bled. I was sore for about a day or so then fine again. I went to another specialist which took three months to get into and she couldn't see anything and said I was fine, and everybody bleeds and if they say they don't they are lying. So one year on, same thing happened again. But as it only happened the once, I did nothing. Same thing happened the following year, but this year, I had a bad bout of gastric and suddenly I had soreness and the feeling like the af was coming back. It did. Now six weeks later it is sheer torture. Sitting very painful, even walking sometimes. bm very painful. I was reluctant to go through any doctors again, so searched internet to find cure, that's when I found there were so many other people out there with the same thing. I know nothing about them still. I found Dr Wheatgrass and it sounded like a miracle cure, and I was desperate. I sent for two of the creams, recovery and balm. Using balm for last 4 days, and so far absolutely no improvement whatsoever. I will keep trying but very disappointed. Also christmas coming, lots to do, so difficult. I am happy to have found this forum and will read posts from others to gain information. No idea people had this for years. Drs seemed to not know much about it from my previous experience. Is there any cream that provides some relief?

Welcome to this site, just like you I am here due to fissures, in my case diarreah caused the problem, I am still trying to figure out how long I have this problem, because I also have hemorroids, while the first to the point of pain beyond believe episode was 4 months ago, I think is been on and off for over a year perhaps more, but always going away and feeling better.
I have not try the Wheatgrass yet, I thought about it but some post here tells that for some doesn't work, I am on medication from the doctor, the nitro cream and mineral oil two times a day, also prescribe medication for the bouts of diarreah, it worked after many weeks but I had a relapse two weeks ago and another retear, now I am much better, the pain is not like it was in the begining, but still there, As I read your post you had surgery but I didn't read anything about other treatmenst before that, like nitro cream, ditilazem or botox.
I am using also the vitamin E/coconut supporitories to make things smooth as my problem is not constipation, many people here have found relief with other methods, I see it as trial an error until you find what works for you, but one thing we all have in common, the stools needs to be soft and regular so it be gentle for the affected area and that is probably something that will be for life regardless of surgery of natural healing.

Thanks for your reply Marg 6043. Sorry for not replying before this but I didn't see where to post it till now. I had no treatment before the operation as I and the doctors didn't know what it was. Took 3 months to see a specialist. He thought I probably had haemmoroids but wanted to send me for some invasive test in three more months time. I was in agony as you would know. I ended up paying another specialist surgeon and he took a look, couldn't find anything even though I had been bleeding profusely for 3 months, I hobbled back into his surgery 5 days later and said I couldn't stand it as i could not sit down and was living on panadol and intense pain. He went back in, found the fissure and supposedly fixed it. Did a sphincterotomy. Took several days and it started to get better. But I still felt that I had to be careful. I bled once every year after that and was sore for a couple of days. Then this year it just came back. Two months ago now, and so far nothing has helped. I can have one or two reasonable days then the next day is terrible. I am using wheat grass cream and coconut oil. Take benefibre, drink lots of water and juice. Not game to go back to any doctor. I will use advice from here. Thanks

I am so sorry that you are still having problems and obviously long term, I went to the excruciating pain like you, sleepless nights and no able to even be comfortable in any position, afraid to go to the bathroom because the pain and that keep on going 24 hours a day.
My last major tear happen last august, thats when I visited the doctor for this specific problem.
Like I said the nitro works but is not short term for me is been long term.
I found that after all this months, the key is to find what can make the problem worst and what to do to avoid it.
I know how you feel specially with the pain, is very scary, is people in this boards that already had surgery like you and like you after having release they find themselves again with the affliction.
I believe that once we get this fissures is for the long term regardless of surgery been successful or not.
Right now after my last re injury I am now enjoying a week of pain free BMs but I can assure you that is still there as I can tell if I try to manipulate the area too much.
I hope you find a way to cope with the problem like many here has done and their advise will help you find what will work best for you.
Like I said before, keeping yourself regular, keep the area lubricated and avoiding constipation is the key to survive this affliction at least that works for me.
Take your time and read the posts and threads here you will find many things that can help you, also if I was you I will go and see another doctor and start fresh with conventional treatment first.

Good luck and remember you are not alone.

After 11 weeks of constant use of wheatgrass cream I am nearly pain free. which is great. However the fissure still remains. It even started bleeding on and off again, although there seems no reason for this. Stools are very soft. But still the pain is almost gone.

AFsufferer, is great that you are almost pain free, but as long as you see that blood in the toilet paper the fissure is re opening, perhaps healing slowly.
Pain is the worst of having fissures, irritation, spams they all take a told on our sanity and wellbeing, so having less pain is always good.

wheatgrass cream is losen your muscles and you are pain free because you do not have stenosis anymore. now if you keep applying cream that fissure will not heal. you need to stop plying stop taking pain killers. look for rectiv cream and apply that. aviod contipation at all cost. you may use stool softner for a month.
