Pelvic Floor Exercises??

Postby Chelle16 » 01 Jan 2013, 03:34

Hello Everyone,
I am 5 weeks post-LIS, after suffering for 6 weeks with exruciating 24 hour pain. (Am still waiting for more relief). I gave birth 3 months ago and have been wondering about doing pelvic floor exercises?? But I'm afraid this may make the anal sphincter tighter and hence worsen the fissure?
Does anyone have any experience with this or advice??
Thanks, Chelle

Chelle,
It would be better to consult with a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor problems as they can guide you through the best stretches and exercises to do for your particular problems and anatomy. I've been to my first session, and shehas been very specific about what she wants me to do and what she doesn't want me to do based on examining my pelvic floor.

Hi chelle,
I am undergoing physio for my pelvic floor. I was examined, readings taken of my pelvic floor strength, and then I was given a pelvi-tone machine to use. It was all done through referral by my crs... So your first step would be to get referred by your dr or crs.

Thank you for the advice. I'm calling my surgeon on Monday to get an earlier recheck appointment and will ask her for a referral.
