Found a secret to eating prunes!

Postby Mamalucia » 04 Feb 2013, 10:37

So I'm not a big fan of prunes but I'm told they will help, so I discovered if u cut a few up and put them in raisin bran cereal they become much more tolerable!!

I like prunes! I especially like the ones that Dole makes that are each in an individual wrapper. I know, wasteful, but that keeps them moist and yummy. I never seen them as anything other than giant raisins. I haven't tried the juice. That looks gross, but again, I haven't tried.
If you look up raw food recipes, there are all sorts of creative ways to use prunes as the sweet component in deserts. There is a recipe for coco bonbons that uses dates. I bet you could make that with prunes, or you could just use dates, as they have a similar "action" to prunes.

I agree with them tasting like raisins. I like raisins but one prune is like the flavor of over 1000 raisins at once lol. It's like a raisin over load!!! The juice is the same thing it's like drinking a ton of raisins I can't handle the juice it's waaaaay to much.

Prune juice to me is gross lol I like raisins and it tastes a lot like it just multiply it by 1000! I was able to drink one glass from the bottle I bought and the bottle is still sitting there untouched a week later...it'll be going out with the trash tonight lol!

Hey Mamalucia! Thats a great idea putting chopped prunes in cereal! I have been chopping them and putting them on toasted raisin cinnamon bread with butter- love it! It actually tastes better with the added prunes.

Yea I'm gonna look up recipes for making it into a butter/spread... Like apple butter! I think it'd be better like that with toast

I bet that you could simply soak the prunes and give them a whirl in a food processor/ bullet blender and they would whip up just fine. Cheaper than buying apple or prune butter at the store, too.
