Soluble vs non soluble fiber

Postby Guest » 26 Aug 2007, 14:09

Does anyone have a good link or knowledge on this topic? I know I'm getting enough fiber and drinking enough water but would like things softer. I think I've heard some types of fiber helps move things along and another type keeps them soft.
Looks like my fissure is in remission (sounds like you can never be sure) and I'm about 90% healed from my fistulotomy from about 2 weeks ago and I'm desperate to keep things going well. I've got the fiber, water, fish oil, flax oil but things are not as easy as they should be. I'm planning on adding Aloe Vera juice but I want to wean myself off colace.
Anyone have a longer term recommendation for a fiber supplement if needed? I'm currently using soluable Benefiber.
Thanks!

That is great news! My favorite fiber supplement is Andrew Lessmans' Fibermucil. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber plus acidophilis. It has really been a holy grail supplement for me at times. I don't take it anymore as diet wise I get 40 grams a day but I really recommend it. You can get it at www.procapslabs.com or www.hsn.com.

One of my biggest sources of fiber is whole wheat, whole grain bread. Probably way more nutritious than any fiber "supplement."
