Question for Nitro users

Postby GGky1959 » 27 Feb 2013, 11:21

I know its gonna be a few weeks before this starts to work, that I understand......but......I'm having issues with wiping....once I urinate, I'm finding the cream on my tissue and removing most of it. Could I reapply the cream? or stay within the 12 hour window regardless of what removal I do? Secondly, when it the best time to use it, since it only lasts about 3 hours once it starts to kick in?

I think it absorbs pretty quickly, so if you dont wipe it off the first hour, Im sure not much harm is done.
Yeah, seems to work only 2-3 hours. I apply when the spasms start, and 12 hours later. Usually this works out to 1/2 hour after my morning BM.

Again, does anybody use this cream more than twice a day? Thanks

That's what I needed to know, apparently, its not a good idea....thanks, J!!
I'm on the right path, I just need patience, prayer and a whole lot of tears to get me through this and of course, my Nitro cream and headaches. (smile). What do you take for the headaches that work immediately? I'm taking Naproxen and this stuff is eating my stomach up badly.

If you find the nitro headaches too much you could always ask for diltiazem or nefadepine instead.
I wouldn't over use the nitro. I would just use in the morning after bm and clean up routine and then at bed time. Just be careful when you wipe after a wee not to go too far back !!!
I hope you are having a better day today

Yeah, I'm, exhausted and tired from lack of sleep last night....Had the worst day of my intire 54 years of life yesterday...but today, because of no bm, I'm doing better. Do the other two meds you suggested work faster or they just don't produce the headaches? I'm gonna ask for tommorrow some lidocaine for numbness after the bm or would the other creams you named be better...heck I don't know any of this stuff....all I was told was eat fiber and drink water.....everything I use today has come exclusively from suggestions here on this site....no dr. is offering anything but advice and blllshttt, that's about it....sorry to be so vile, but I'm so over this thing.

Jr2 told me that they all work the same but only nitro gives headaches. And she said nifedipine is the best because diltiazem caused rashes for her.i hope this helps. I see my first crs next Wednesday and I'm going to ask for nifedipine if he gives me a cream. Also she said you might have to have nifedipine made at compounding pharmacy.

Nifedipine has the lowest incidence of side effects like headache and rash. I'm super sensitive and so-far-so-good.
The lidocaine cream is OTC, not prescription. You need to ask for it at the pharmacy. Its expensive, so they usually hide it behind the counter.
Before I started improving, I put the lidocaine inside my bum before a BM and laid there for a while to let it set in. It made the pain more bearable.

I think its loosing effect if you use it too often. I reckon there is a reason the papers say every 12 hours.
I dont take painkillers. Not for my headache, nor the burning spasms. When I get the headache, I lay down 30 mins and usually feel better afterwards.
