Also unable to work

Postby Englanddevon » 12 Mar 2013, 04:37

Hi guys, I too am in the same situation and have been unable to work since this happened. This happened a few weeks after leaving my last job and have been waiting for the situation to get better so that I can get back to the job search....., however I am now 4 months into my fissure and no improvement. I am due to see a specialist next week (damn NHS has meant months of waiting for an appointment )
My concern is that I am now 4 months in and think it will be another few months before this is over so when I get to interviews again I would have been out of work for a min of 6 months! (Thank goodness for the most supportive and hardworking husband keeping us afloat) my concern is what to say to new employers as if I say health problems then it is going to raise alarm bells? Anyone been in similar situation?

You could stab the interviewer in butt with knife. Then he/she would understand completely Image .
When I go back to work I'm going to tell my old coworkers that I thought I had cancer, but it turned out to be like an ulcer in my guts.i will tell them I'm fine now and if they want details then I will talk about pooping blood until they wish they never asked...I would tell interviewer the same. If you don't want interviewer to know about health problems and they ask about last six months then just tell interviewer that you were taking care of a sick family member...

Great Delasama love it! I would like to do that too, just a few jabs with the knife! And then a few more!!
Hey England Devon, haven't seen you on here for a while! How you doing with pain management.? I am on Dilt now, which is sort of making it a bit better. Botox in 3 wks. Good luck with your Appointment. Let us know how you go!
This damn NHS is a beggar, I am doing the Botox on the NHS, but I have told myself, if this gets worse or doesn't heal after Botox, I am willing to go into Debt to have the LIS privately, this has consumed too much of my life already. Xx

I work 30 hours per week, mostly standing up and moving around though. It was hard when my fissure was at it's worst, but I had LIS nearly 6 months ago and although I haven't completely healed, I manage a lot better.
Although work has been tough at times, being busy keeps my mind off things and also having an income is obviously great. When I was at my worst I was struggling at work, plus I am a full time uni student which made things worse because of all the sitting down.

I say that I had a lower bowel disorder but it was fixed with surgery (I had the LIS). If they want details, then I tell them it was a chronic anal fissure, at which point they look non-comprehending and move on. It's all medical language to them, unless they've personally experienced the same thing. All they want to know, basically, is that it's a problem that's been fixed and is no longer an issue.

JHH,
Yeah it's been 6 months now and still not 'normal'. I do spend a lot of my time pain free though, it's just little pains now and then and some discomfort at times. My CRS thinks he may not have cut enough, but to be honest I don't think he has ever had someone not heal after LIS and he doesn't know what to make of it.

JHH I have a degree in business administration but end up been a Spanish teacher for many years, until a health related issue and surgeries had me homebound for a while.
Now I just enjoy keeping in shape and eating well, that's because I have a great husband of 32 years that was able to keep his job even in this trouble times of economic distress until he too was unemployeed for 4 months at the same time I developed my fissure.
He is a retired Marine and works for government.
I think my fissure becoming worst was due to him been off work for 4 months and while we survive thanks to savings and retirement accounts I actually became very stressed.
Now things are better but I wish my fissure will go away.
Sorry to hear that many are having problems with the economy and job seeking, things are becoming very hard this days to find good jobs.
