I also can't apply coconut oil directly due to stinging, but i do use about a teaspoon in my bath to soak and that works fine. I also us it in my cooking.
ETO. I've had surgery for endo. too, and I definitely think both the disease and the surgeries have had an impact on my bowel. The inflamed tissues, the adhesions that act lke glue in the abdomen, the constantly forming cysts, etc., all take their toll.
Then, the IBS and SOD wreak their havoc.
