Advice on anal fissure bruising feeling

Postby coco » 30 Jul 2013, 11:40

I have been diagnosed with AF after the birth of my son have had it now for 7 months. For the past four days I have felt like a bruised feeling when I touch there and sit down and I can feel like a lump under the skin between my tailbone and my bottom if that makes sense, has anyone experienced anything similar I am actually really worried and I don't see a specialist for another 6 weeks.

coco hi there sorry to hear that your developed a fissure problem after your baby, it kind of takes away the joy of motherhood, but many women have this problems after birth.
Sometimes when the fissures become chronic they develop a sentinel pile, or skin tag, the skin tag becomes swollen or irritated.
Now, because your fissure is on the opposite side of mine I don't know if the skin tag will develop the same way, if you feel that the lump is getting bigger and that you are getting very painful in the area or red, (you should look with a mirror to see how it looks like) then get to your doctor as soon as possible to make sure you are not developing a fistula that is another painful problem that some develop also, a fistula is when infection set in, inside the anus and a track opens on the skin like cyst.
Is a forum for fistulas here also, I am sure that is probably a skin tag but is good to go back to the doctor to make sure that a cyst is not developing.
I hope everything goes well and that you feel better soon and congratulations on your baby.

Hi coco, and a big welcome to the Forum!
It is difficult to know what it might be, but just speaking for myself and what I would do.
A bruised sensation I have quite often, but not a lump in the area that you've mentioned. If the lump is sore to the touch, I would make an appointment with my GP (unless you can at least phone the specialist and ask). The reason that I would go to the doctor is just incase there is an infection, which I would want to catch sooner rather than later. Don't mean to make you worry more, but that is what I would do if a lump appeared, that was sore - or hot - to the touch.
A skin tag usually develops, if you get one, on the anal verge and can be panful, but they do not, as far as I know, develop away from the anus.
Thinking of you. Big hug!

Thank you lovely people for answering me. I have had a skin tag removed from my first surgery and i did use the mirror to have a look (not pretty hahaha) nothing there. The actual lump if I call it that is under the skin it's strange because if I lay down and feel there I can feel the bruise but not the lump or harder area but when I stand up I can definitely feel a lump or harder area. I was feeling a bit off a couple of nights ago I was freezing and sitting on the heater I thought maybe I was just tired. I can't see my doctor until end of August and specialist September. I did see my surgeon a few days ago after my last surgery he had a look at the area and didn't notice anything but I did not have the bruised feeling at that time. So it could be an infection???
It is so good to talk to people who understand

coco, if is an infection from a fistula you should have some discharge from the anal region, but sometimes it doesn't happen if is a cyst.
Perhaps doing the sitz bath in warm water and heating pads will help if is a cyst.
Now, sometimes this things will resolve on their own, but if something doesn't feel right for you or you develop any fever or more discomfort call your doctor to see what they recommend.
it seems in your post that is not so bad and hopefully it will go away.

I think that marg has summed it up well, coco. If it gets worse, most definitely contact your doctor.
Let us know!
